Kontakt Lens Kullanan Hastaların Demografik Verileri

Year 2021, Volume: 4 Issue: 1, 1 - 3, 24.02.2021

Abstract

Amaç: Çalışmamızda kontakt lens birimimizde kayıtlı hastaların demografik özelliklerini incelemeyi amaçladık.
Yöntem: 2017-2019 tarihleri arasında birimimize kontakt lens kullanmak amacıyla başvuran hastaların dosyaları retrospektif olarak tarandı. Katılımcıların yaş, cinsiyet, meslek ve eğitim durumları kaydedildi.
Bulgular: Bin hastanın dosyası incelendi. Katılımcıların yaş ortalamaları 23,33, 779 (%77,9)'u kadın, 221 (%22,1)'i erkek idi. Eğitim durumları %47,2'si lisans, %33,6'sı lise, %12,3'ü önlisans, %4,2'si ortaokul, %1,3'ü yüksek lisans, %1,2'si ilkokul mezunu, %0,2’si de okur yazar değildi. Katılımcıların %53,9'u öğrenci, %11,1'i öğretmen, %7,3'ü ev hanımı, %27,7'sini diğer meslek grupları oluşturmaktaydı.

Demographic Data of Contact Lens Wearers

Year 2021, Volume: 4 Issue: 1, 1 - 3, 24.02.2021

Abstract

Objective: In this study, we investigated demographic data of contact lens wearers in our clinic.
Methods: We examined the hospital records of contact lens wearers between 2017 and 2019, retrospectively. Also, age, gender, job and level of education were evaluated.
Results: The files of 1000 patients were scanned. The average age of the participants was 23.33, 779 (77.9%) were women and 221 (22.1%) were men. Educational status: 47.2% was undergraduate, 33.6% graduated from high school, 12.3% had an associate degree, 4.2% graduated from secondary school, 1.3% was graduate, 1.2% was primary school graduate and 0.2% was illiterate. 53.9% of the participants were students, 11.1% were teachers, 7.3% were housewives, and 27.7% were from other professional groups.
Conclusion: Since the use of contact lenses has widely spread recently, it has become more important to determine the compliance of patients during contact lense wear and to express significance of careful use. Therefore, it will be more beneficial to consider the demographic characteristics of the patients who prefer to wear contact lenses in order to meet the expectations of the patients and to prevent complications that may occur.
