Blood Transfusion in Veterinary Medicine

Year 2018, Volume: 11 Issue: 1, 39 - 47, 30.06.2018

Abstract

The blood is a living
tissue, which is a unity consisting of extremely specific structures, each having
a separate function. Both blood components and plasma fraction products should
be considered when referring to blood products. In the last 25 years in
veterinary medicine, blood transfusions have become a routine and frequent
life-saving practice for sick or injured animals, rather than a relatively rare
occasion. Although component therapy has not yet become prevalent in the
veterinary medicine, veterinarians have now become aware of the importance of
using not only the whole blood but also the blood components in blood
transfusions, since the information on blood component therapy has become more
widespread in the recent years. In veterinary medicine, the blood transfusion
may be performed when erythrocyte replacement, hemostatic protein replacement,
non-hemostatic protein replacement, and platelet replacement are required. In
transfusion, the blood components such as fresh whole blood, stored whole
blood, fresh frozen plasma, plasma, cryoprecipitate, cryoprecipitate-poor
plasma, platelets-rich plasma can be used according to the indication.

Veteriner Hekimlikte Kan Transfüzyonu

Year 2018, Volume: 11 Issue: 1, 39 - 47, 30.06.2018

Abstract

Kan
Veteriner hekimlikte eritrosit
replasmanı, hemostatik protein replasmanı, non-hemostatik protein replasmanı ve
trombosit replasmanı gereken durumlar için kan transfüzyonu yapılabilir.
Transfüzyonda endikasyona göre taze tam kan, saklanmış tam kan, taze donmuş
plazma, plazma, kriopresipitat, kriopresipitatdan fakir plazma, trombositten
zengin plazma gibi kan komponentleri kullanılabilmektedir.
