ÇEŞİTLİ YÖNLERİ İLE PUFALAR VE PERİODONTİTİS İLE İLİŞKİLERİ

Abstract

Klinik olarak periodontitis, ataşman kaybı, periodontal cep, diş eti kanaması ve kemik rezorpsiyonu ile kendini göstermektedir. Bu belirtiler radyografik olarak gözlenmekte ve potansiyel olarak diş kaybına yol açabilimektedir. Dokosaheksaenoik asit (DHA) ve eikosapentaenoik asit (EPA) gibi Omega-3 çoklu doymamış yağ asitleri (ω-3 yağ asitleri, PUFA); romatoid artrit, ülseratif kolit, ateroskleroz, kanser, kalp ve damar hastalıkları ve periodontitis üzerinde antiinflamatuar, koruyucu ve tedavi edici etkilere sahiptir. Bu yağ asitleri ince bağırsakta emilir ve kan dolaşımı yoluyla çeşitli dokulara taşınır. Yağ dokusu fazla yağ asitlerini depolar ve gerektiğinde bunları harekete geçirebilir. Bu süreç, özellikle iltihaplanmanın merkezi bir rol oynadığı periodontal sağlık bağlamında, bu yağ asitlerinin yararlı etkilerini sürdürmek için tutarlı alım gerekliliğinin altını çizmektedir. Bu derlemede, Omega 3 çoklu yağ asitlerinin periodontitis ile ilişkileri incelenmiş olup Omega 3 PUFA’ların kullanıldığı klinik ve deneysel çalışmalar değerlendirilerek bulgular sentezlenmiştir.
