Definition of malnutrition and management of the patients

Abstract

Malnütrisyon; yetersiz besin alımı nedeniyle ortaya çıkan yetersiz beslenme, aşırı besin alımı sonucunda gözlenen aşırı beslenme, spesifik besin ögesi eksiklikleri ve orantısız besin ögesi alımı nedeniyle dengesizlikten oluşan bütün bir tanım olarak nitelendirmiştir. Bazı tanımlarda ise inflamasyondan da bahsedilmiş ve malnütrisyon farklı evrelerde yetersiz/aşırı beslenme ve inflamatuvar aktivitenin olduğu, beden bileşenlerinde değişikliklere ve işlevlerde bozulmalara neden olmasıdır şeklinde betimlemiştir. Malnutrsiyon artmış morbidite ve mortalite ile ilişkili önemli bir bozuluktur. Bütün yaş gruplarında görülebilirse de yaşlı hastalar daha çok risk altındadır. Tüm dünyada nüfus giderek yaşlanmakta, buna paralel olarak malnütrisyon sıklığı da artmaktadır. Malnütrisyonun erken tanınması, tedavisi hem maliyet olarak hasta başına sağlık giderlerini hem de morbidite ve mortaliteyi azaltacaktır.
