Abstract

It is noteworthy that nursing students who participate in clinical practices as a part of nursing education know the protective measures in Covid-19 and the correct use of these these measures. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of asepsis practices taught to nursing students during their nursing education on their individual practices (washing hands, using gloves, wearing masks) during the Covid-19 pandemic. The sample of the study consisted of 233 students who agreed to participate in the study. Data were collected between August 2020 and September 2020 via Google Form which shared with WhatsApp groups of the students. Answering the questionnaire took approximately 10 minutes for each student. Data were collected by a form developed by researchers according to relevant literature. Characteristics of the students (10 questions) and Asepsis Technique Required Practices Evaluation Form (13 items). SPSS 23.0 (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) package program was used for the statistical evaluation of the data. Significance level was accepted as p<0,05. The mean age of the students participating in the study was 21,29±2,57, 81,5% were women and 31,8% were second-year students. It was determined that nursing education influenced the contribution of “wearing a mask" (9,14±1,42) at the most. The least influenced practice was “using hand antiseptic” (7,07±2,59). The female students were more careful in hygiene practices than male students. As a conclusion, it was determined that asepsis training given to nursing students have an impact upon individual hygiene habits during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Hemşirelik Öğrencilerine Eğitimleri Sırasında Öğretilen Asepsi Uygulamalarının Covid -19 Pandemi Dönemindeki Bireysel Uygulamalarına Etkisi

Year 2023, Volume: 49 Issue: 2, 245 - 253, 08.09.2023

Abstract

Verilerin istatistiksel değerlendirilmesine IBM SPSS 23.0 (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) paket programı kullanıldı. Anlamlılık düzeyi p<0,05 olarak kabul edildi. Araştırmaya katılan öğrencilerin yaş ortalaması 21,29±2,57, %81,5’i kadın ve %31,8’i pandemi başladığında ikinci sınıf öğrencisiydi.
