Abstract

Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine utilization rate of contraceptive vaginal ring, depending on the method of continuity and the side effects of the use of the method.Material and methods: The research was performed the ages of 18-36 women who request contraseptive methods in the three hospitals family planning unit. The data collected through the form of data, including questions on the use of the vaginal ring and socio-demographic characteristics between the February to December 2011.Results: The average age of the women was 29.17 ± 6:43 and 99.3% of women were married. The study revealed that, 68.8% of women with the already used by another method, 51.8% of the women’s husbands did not use any contraceptive method, 11.4% of women used the method without the knowledge of her husband. Abstract

Amaç: Bu çalışma kontraseptif etki gösteren vajinal halkanın, kadınlarda kabul görme oranı, yöntem kullanımına devamlılık ve yönteme bağlı yan etkileri ortaya koymak amacıyla planlanmıştır.

Gereç ve yöntemler: Araştırma Adana iline bağlı üç hastanenin Aile Planlaması Ünitesine başvuran, 18-36 yaş aralığında, hormonal kontrasepsiyon istemi olan, 141 kadın ile tamamlanmıştır. Veriler Şubat-Aralık 2011 tarihleri arasında, araştırmacılar tarafından hazırlanan sosyo-demografik özellikler ve vajinal halka kullanımına yönelik soruları içeren veri formu ile toplanmıştır. Danışmanlık sonrası vajinal halka kullanmayı kabul eden kadınlarla, kendileri temin etmek şartıyla, çalışmaya devam edilmiş ve kadınlar telefonla ayda bir kez olmak üzere 2 ay takip edilmiştir. Veriler; yüzdelik, aritmetik ortalama ve standart sapma ile değerlendirilmiştir.

Bulgular: Kadınların yaş ortalamasının 29.17±6.43 olduğu, %99.3’ünün evli olduğu bulunmuştur. Kadınların  %68.8’inin daha önce başka bir kontraseptif yöntem kullandığı, %51.8’inin eşlerinin herhangi bir korunma yöntemi kullanmadığı ve % 11.4’ünün eşlerinin haberi olmadan korunacağı saptanmıştır. Kadınların tamamının vajinal halkayı duymadıkları belirlenmiştir. Kadınların %27.7’sinin vajinal halka kullanmayı kabul ettiği, bunların % 43.8’i kendi başına uygulanabilir olması nedeniyle kabul ettiği belirlenmiştir. Kadınların %54.9’u  kullanım zorluğu, %37.8’i eşinin tedirgin olabileceğini düşündüğü için kullanmayı kabul etmediklerini ifade etmiştir. Görüşmeler sonunda kadınların tamamının vajinal halka kullanmaya devam edeceği, tamamının halkaya yönelik vajende batma hissi yaşamadıkları, %89.3’ünün ilişki esnasında hissetmediği, %10.7’sinin eşi tarafından hissedildiği, %96.6’sının ilişki sıklığının değişmediği saptanmıştır.

Sonuçlar: Araştırmaya katılan kadınların vajinal halka ko­nusundaki farkındalık oranlarının düşük olduğu ancak kullanan kadınların bu yöntemden memnun oldukları saptanmıştır.
