Öz
Giriş: Besin ambalajında bulunan sürdürülebilirlik ile ilişkili logo ve işaretlerin varlığı, konu ile ilgili farkındalığı olan tüketicinin seçim yapmasında yardımcı olmaktadır.
Amaç: İtalya’da çeşitli marketlerdeki besin etiket ve ambalajlarındaki sürdürülebilir besin üretim ve tüketimine ilişkin logo ve işaretlerin varlığının incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır.
Yöntem: İtalya’nın Perugia şehrinde bulunan 4 zincir marketin reyonlarında et ve et ürünleri, süt ürünleri, hayvansal sütler, bitkisel sütler, sebzeler, meyveler, tahıllar, soslar ve hazır yemekler olmak üzere 7 farklı kategoriden 253 adet besinin etiket ve ambalajları incelenmiş, sürdürülebilirliğe ilişkin hayvan refahı, organik ürün, geri dönüştürülebilir ambalaj, yeşil nokta, FSC (Orman Yönetim Konseyi), adil ticaret, karbon ayak izi, vejeteryan-vegan ürün gibi logo ve işaretlerin varlığı sorgulanmıştır. İnceleme sonucunda her bir sürdürülebilirlik işaretinin kaç üründe bulunduğu orantısal olarak hesaplanmıştır.
Bulgular: Besin ambalajlarındaki logo ve işaretlerin varlığı incelendiğinde incelenen toplam ürün sayısında hayvan refahı %2, organik ürün %23.7, geri dönüştürülebilir ambalaj %8.7, sürdürülebilir deniz ürünleri %2, yeşil nokta %7.9, FSC, %3.6, adil ticaret %0.4, karbon ayak izi %0.8, vejeteryan %3.9 ve vegan logosu %4.7 oranında bulunurken diğer ürünlerde herhangi bir logo veya işarete rastlanmamıştır.
Sonuç: Avrupa Birliği üyesi olan İtalya’da sürdürülebilir besin tüketimi ile ilişkili logo ve işaret varlığı oldukça düşük oranlarda saptanmıştır. Bu çalışma sonuçlarının ulusal çalışmalarla desteklenerek üreticiler tarafından kullanımlarının artırılması ve bu şekilde sürdürülebilirliğe katkı sağlamaları, böylece çevresel etkisi düşük besin üretim ve tüketim sistemlerinin geliştirilmesine katkı sunulması ön görülebilir.

Background: The presence of logos and signs related to sustainability on the food package helps the consumer who is aware of the issue to make a choice.
Aim: It is aimed to examine the existence of logos and signs related to sustainable food production and consumption on food labels and packages in various markets in Italy.
Method: Labels and packages of 253 foods from 7 different categories, including meat and meat products, dairy products, animal-vegetable drinks, vegetables, fruits, cereals, sauces, and ready-to-meals, were examined in the 4 chain markets in Perugia, Italy. The existence of logos and signs such as welfare, organic product, recyclable packaging, green dot, FSC (Forest Stewardship Council), fair trade, carbon footprint, and vegetarian-vegan products were questioned. As a result of the examination, the number of products with each sustainability mark was calculated proportionally.
Results: Animal welfare 2%, organic product 23.7%, recyclable packaging 8.7%, sustainable seafood 2%, green spot 7.9%, FSC 3.6%, fair trade 0.4%, carbon footprint 0.8%, vegetarian 3.9% and vegan logo was found 4.7%, while no logos or signs were found on other products.
Conclusion: In Italy, which is a member of the European Union, the presence of logos and signs associated with sustainable food consumption has been detected at low rates. It can be foreseen that the results of these studies will be supported by national studies, increasing their use by the producers and thus contributing to sustainability, thus contributing to the development of food production and consumption systems with low environmental impact.
