Athletes develop physiological
adaptation depending on sports kind.
Pulmonary functions are affected by these adaptations. Our purpose with
this study is compare the effect of volleyball and judo sports that has
different characteristic from each other, on pulmonary functions. Twelve
volleyball athletes who had been doing sports at least for three years with the
mean age of 15,50±1,08 and 10 judo athletes who had been doing sports at least
for three years with with the mean age of 15,10±1.37 were included to study.
Athletes’ pulmonary functions was tested with spirometry. Athletes’ forced
expiratory volume in one second (FEV1), forced vital capacity (FVC),
forced expiratory volume /forced vital capacity % (FEV1/FVC%), peak
expiratory flow (PEF), forced expiratory volume at %25 (FEV25),
forced expiratory volume at %50 (FEV50), forced expiratory volume at
%75 (FEV75) values were noted and by using SPPS statistical analyses
program, the data were compared with Mann Whitney U test. Athletes who were included to our study were same age and had same
BMI (body mass index) values (p>0,05). FEV1/FVC value of athletes were
similar (p>0,05).  It was found that the
value of FEV1 was 5,15±0,46 in volleyball player, 3,92±1,01 in
judokas; the value of  FVC was 5,99±0,61 in
volleyball player, 4,56±1,10 in judokas value; the value of PEF was 11,12±2,13 in
volleyball player, 7,79±1,86 in judokas; the value of FEV25 was 9,36±2,17 in
volleyball player, 6,38±1,64 in judokas; the value of  FEF50 was 6,25±1,28 in volleyball
player, 4,74±1,46 in judokas; the value of FEV75 was 3,15±1,27 in
volleyball player, 2.03±0,90 in judokas; the value of FEV25/75 was 5,87±1,67
in volleyball player, 4,27±1,26 in judokas. It was determined that the
differences of all values beside FEV1/FVC% between two groups reached the
significance level (p<0,05). It is determined that volleyball athletes’
pulmonary functions were higher than judo athletes. It is showed with this
study that sport characteristics influences philological changes on pulmonary
system.

Yapılan Sporun Karakteristiği Solunum Fonksiyonlarını Etkiler mi? Voleybol ve Judo Sporcularının Karşılaştırılması

Sporcular
yapılan spora bağlı olarak farklı fizyolojik adaptasyonlar geliştirirler. Solunum
volume-zorlu ekspiratuar hacim (FEV), forced expiratory volume in one
second-bir saniyedeki zorlu ekspiratuar hacim (FEV1), forced vital
capasity- zorlu vital kapasite (FVC), forced ekspiratuary volume-zorlu
ekspiraturar volüm/ forced vital capasity-zorlu vital kapasite yüzdesi (FEV1/FVC%),
peak expiratory flow- tepe akım hızı (PEF), forced expiratory volume at %25-
%25’deki zorlu ekspiratuar hacim (FEV25), forced expiratory volume at %50-
%50’deki zorlu ekspiratuar hacim (FEV50), forced expiratory volume at %75-
